The former UAP Task Force director’s book is due on October 13, with a screen adaptation also planned.
Jay Stratton’s memoir, Out of the Shadows: Revealing the Truth About Non-Human Intelligent Life, is scheduled for North American publication on Oct. 13, 2026, according to a HarperCollins-supplied listing carried by Google Books. William Morrow is publishing the 336-page book, presented as Stratton’s account of his intelligence career and work on unidentified aerial phenomena.
Entertainment Weekly reported in June that documentary director Dan Farah had secured film and television rights and planned a scripted series based on the memoir. Its report gave the same Oct. 13 North American release date through William Morrow.
What the memoir is advertised to address
HarperCollins’ description calls Stratton an intelligence professional who led the UAP Task Force and investigated unusual aerospace observations. It says the memoir will recount institutional resistance and the effect of that work on his family.
The publisher says the book will argue that an approximately 80-year effort concealed information about non-human intelligent life and that a crash-retrieval programme exists.
Documented task-force context and the planned series
The Department of Defense publicly documented the creation of the UAP Task Force, which the publisher associates with Stratton. On Aug. 14, 2020, the department said Deputy Secretary David Norquist had approved it on Aug. 4 and that the Navy would lead it under the office of the under secretary of defense for intelligence and security.
The department said the group would detect, analyse and catalogue unidentified aerial phenomena that could threaten U.S. national security, citing concerns about unidentified incursions near military training ranges and designated airspace. The release confirms the task force and its stated mission, but does not name Stratton or address the publisher’s allegations about concealment, recovered material or non-human intelligence.
Entertainment Weekly’s report also noted Stratton’s participation in The Age of Disclosure.
